25 and counting

We had our 28 week appointment with the doctor yesterday and I have gained 25 lbs! Hunter got furstrated with me because I was kind of bummed about it. He just kept saying that this is what is supposed to happen. And I know that I'm supposed to gain weight, but it is so hard to see those numbers on the scale going up and there is nothing that I can do about it. Oh well, only a little bit longer. ha!

I also had to do the glucose screening test where you drink the orange stuff. I actually didn't think that it was that bad tasting. I have heard awful things about it, but I thought it kind of tasted like the orange drink at McDonalds.

Reality set in when the Doc said that we start going every two weeks for appointments now. Wow, the time has really gone by kind of fast. I'm going to try to savor every last minute. ha!

And, Happy Halloween! We all dressed up like super heros at work today, I'm "Super Mom"! haha! Have a great day and indulge in candy while you have a good excuse!

Bumpdate-28 Weeks!

28 weeks down 12 to go, give or take a few. I have really mixed emotions about that. I feel like I have had this little secret living inside of me and it's been just me and her and soon I'm going to have to share that little secret with the world. Bitter sweet. I can't wait to meet her, but I'm going to miss our bonding time that nobody else gets to share. I'm already stingy with her, ha! Sometimes when I think about having a baby actually here with us, it scares the poop out of me. But we are ready...we have the nursery done (minus a few small details), her clothes are hanging in her closet and nicely folded in the drawers. We just need a baby. :)

How Far Along: 28 weeks

Total Weight Gain: around 20 lbs. YIKES! haha!

Size of Baby: Chinese Cabbage , according to

Maternity Clothes:
I am still wearing some regular (mostly maternity) tops but I have switched to all maternity bottoms, they are so comfortable! My mom gave me some really cute maternity PJ's and I could literally live in them! I also bought a pair of maternity yoga pants. Oh. my. gosh. I don't know how I have ever lived without them. I guarantee that I will be wearing them even after I'm pregnant. No shame. I'm a shopper so my maternity wardrobe keeps growing, I have to keep reminding my self  that I only have a couple more months, so I have really slowed down buying things. :)

Gender: Baby Girl!

I feel her move around all the time. It actually freaks me out if I don't feel her for a while. She is still a morning girl right now. She moves all around in the morning while I'm sitting at my desk. You can feel the thumps from the outside now, Hunter got to feel her a couple of weeks ago and he thought that was pretty cool!

I haven't been sleeping as well as I normally do. Mainly because I don't like sleeping on my side. I wake up a lot during the night, I think mostly because I'm just not comfortable.

What I miss:
I am REALLY missing working out. I love going to kick boxing classes and sweating so much that  I'm soaking wet! I guess I have the rest of my life to enjoy working out so for right now I'm going to enjoy being pregnant!  I have still been enjoying warm baths, but I like them so hot that steam is coming off of my skin when I get out. I can't wait to take a hot bath again! I miss my pre-pregnancy clothes/body, but I found myself thinking the other day that a couple more months and I'm done and I kind of got sad. haha!
Fruit always sounds good. Still craving sweets, I had a raging craving for homemade apple pie one day and I don't even eat apple pie. ha! PB&J sandwiches and chocolate milk! Mexican food!

Other crazy symptoms:
I haven't had any more leg cramps, I guess drinking OJ in the morning has worked. My lower back started bothering me a little. I took a small pillow to work to put in my chair during the day and that has helped. I have had a few Braxton Hicks contractions, my doctor said it was perfectly normal! I had a really stressful week at work last week and I can tell at night that my stomach just tightens up, it's so weird. I'm so lucky to have Hunter to help me, he can tell when I need to rest, which is so hard for me, and he MAKES me get off of my feet. Love him! Other than that, just tired. ha!

Best Moment this month:
We went to a Prepared Childbirth Class. I was actually dreading it because it was all day on a Saturday but we both really enjoyed it.  The best part was hearing all of the questions from the dads, they were pretty funny. We got to go on a tour of the Labor and Delivery wing and that actually got my heart pumping. It was weird to think that we will be in one of those rooms in a few months. We were both really glad that we took the class, it was helpful for both of us. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

What's Happening?

We are getting way cooler weather today and I am loving it! It feels like Fall is finally here and I hope to stay. I am so ready for the cold weather.

We went to the Prepared Childbirth class at the hospital that we will be delivering at over the weekend. I will be honest and tell you that I was kind of dreading it because it was an all day class on a Saturday. Hunter is actually the one that kept saying that we really needed to go and it would be one Saturday out of our lives. Bless him. He has been being the positive one around our house lately...for the most part. ha! Anyways...we went and we both thought that it was so good. It was kind of brief on each topic that was presented only because we only had one day. But we really didn't get bored and the day went by so fast. There was sooooo much information and it was all useful. It kind of made me more nervous about delivery but kind of calmed my nerves at the same time. I know that makes no sense at all, ha! At the end of the class we went on a tour of the Labor and Delivery wing of the hospital and it was nice to actually get to see where we would be. The hospital that we will be at is so nice and they practice 24 hour rooming-in. So the baby will stay in my room as much as I want her to be there, 24 hours a day if I want. They also offer food vouchers for spouses while they are staying with the moms, and apparently they have won all kinds of awards for their food there. Yay! I love food!

I am so glad that we went. The next class that we are signed up for is How to care for a Newborn, I have a feeling  that will be just as useful! ha!

Stocking the Freezer

So I'm a planner. With that being said, I have been thinking about how are lives are going to be so different once Baby is here. It kind of freaks me out that I can't plant out the details, but I CAN plan out what we will eat in those first few weeks. I have been reading about post-partum recovery and things to expect. One thing that keeps coming up is being so tired that the last thing on your mind is cooking dinner. I really don't want us to live on fast food and pizza so I have made a list of things that I can make ahead and freeze. I tried to think of things that would be really easy to just heat up and maybe add a fresh veggie or salad. Translation:things that would be eash for Hunter to prepare. ha!  Any tips on what freezes well or really anything about freezing meals would be awesome!

Here is what I have on my list for now:

1.  Meatballs

2.  Casseroles:

-Chicken Spaghetti

-Baked Ziti

       3. Soups:

-Taco Soup

-Chicken Noodle

-Corn Chowder

       4. Sloppy Joe

       5. Beans

       6. Meatloaf Minis

       7. Muffins

       8. Cookie Dough

       9. Breakfast Burritos

       10. Beef and Bean Burritos

       11. Salsa Chicken for Tacos

A Week without posting??

I feel like this week has almost done me in. This time of year is the busiest for me at work. I haven't been feeling well at night and I think it's just because I'm stressed and so tired by the end of the day that I literally just crash at night. And that is so hard for me because I can't stop when I get home, there is always something to do. I have to go on my walk, do laundry, do the dishes. Hunter has been great at helping me, but I just can't relax! I did go get a pedicure this week (since I can't reach my toes anymore!) and that seemed to help a little bit, I'm am trying to do that every two weeks now just to help me CHILL. ha! Needless to say, I haven't posted since last Friday and that's why!

I'm linking up with Kelly today for CROCKPOTALOOZA 2 today because I absolutely love using the crockpot! My favorite recipe is below. It's totally my go-to recipe!

Salsa Chicken

You Need:
1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts (can be thawed or frozen)
1 large jar of salsa

Place chicken breasts in crockpot and pour whole jar of salsa over chicken. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3-4 hours. When chicken is done shred with two forks. That's it! So Easy!

I love this recipe because you can use it for so many different things. We have had it on tacos, nachos and I have even added other ingredients to it to make delicious Taco Soup!

Have a great weekend, I am going to try to catch up on some sleep!

Show Us Your Life-Tailgating Recipes

I decided to link up with Kelly for Show Us Your Life today because it's my favorite kind of food! Tailgate/Football/Party food. I could eat dips and appetizer type foods for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner everyday! I have not tried either of the recipes below but I wanted to share them because I have been dying to make them both!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 (8 oz) block cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup confectionery sugar
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips
  1. Whisk the melted butter together with the brown sugar, vanilla, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.
  2. In a separate medium bowl, beat cream cheese until softened. Add the butter mixture and the confectionery sugar, beating until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  3. Cool in refrigerator. Serve with graham crackers or other lightly sweetened cookie.
Pizza Dip

  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 can (8 ounces) pizza sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
  • 2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onion
  • Breadsticks or tortilla chips

  • In a bowl, beat cream cheese and Italian seasoning. Spread in an ungreased 9-in. microwave-safe pie plate.
  • Combine mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses; sprinkle half over the cream cheese. Top with the pizza sauce, remaining cheese mixture, green pepper and onion.
  • Microwave, uncovered, on high for 2-3 minutes or until cheese is almost melted, rotating a half turn several times. Let stand for 1-2 minutes. Serve with breadsticks or tortilla chips. Yield: about 3 cups.

Five Question Friday!

It's Friday! I have to work an event tonight for work but after that I am looking forward to a weekend of not doing much. This week has made me so tired! ha! My mom and I are planning on having a girls weekend of shopping! woo hoo! my favorite thing to do!

On to Mama M.'s 5QF!

1. What album/cd/download are you embarrassed to admit you have?
That's a really good question. I love ALL different kinds of music so I have a huge variety of music. I did buy that Sisqo' album in high school, you know "The Thong Song". I know you remember it even if you don't want to admit it! ha! You're totally singing it right now.
2. What's the one thing your spouse does better than you?
Nothing! I kid, I kid. He is way better at saving money than I am. At least one of us is, right?
3. When do you start buying Halloween Candy?
October 30th, ha!
4. Family closets - Yay or nay?
NAY, I need my own space when it comes to my clothes. Actually, I need my own space when it comes to a lot of things.
5. Which home/cleaning chore do you hate the most? Why?
I really do enjoy cleaning the house. I love the way it smells and feels when I'm done. The one chore that I cannot stand is hanging up the clean clothes after they have been washed. I have no idea why, but I just do not like to do it.

Have a great weekend! We are supposed to get some chilly weather and I can't wait!!

Thursday, October 4, 2012

I have a confession. I worry. I worry about things that I have no control over. It's a really hard habit to break. Since getting pregnant I find myself worrying about a whole new bag of issues. Will my baby be healthy? Will I be a good parent? Will she be a good person? I'm sure most of this is normal but I am really trying not to worry so much, it causes unneeded stress and wrinkles.

I feel guilty for worrying so much because I know the God wants me to leave all of the worrying to him. I printed out a couple of bible verses that I have put up in my office. I look at them frequently throughout the day and it really helps. I feel more at peace.  I don't worry as much.

1 Peter 5:6-7
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Matt 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I hope that this helps some of you worriers out there too!
