Bumpdate-36 weeks!

ALMOST THERE!

How Far Along: 35 weeks, 4 weeks to go! I really can't believe that I am almost done being pregnant. It's so weird to think that I'm kind of going to miss it.

Total Weight Gain: Holding steady at 30 lbs.

Size of Baby: Baby girl is the size of a crenshaw melon, according to babycenter.com? Its says that she is about 6 pounds now. We have our next appointment on Dec. 27th and we will get to see how big she is when we have the sonogram.

Maternity Clothes:
I've switched to all maternity clothes, they are just more comfortable at this point.
Gender: Baby Girl!

Movement:
I feel her move around all the time. The movement has become way more pronounced in the past couple of weeks. It almost tickles sometimes. I can really tell that she is getting bigger!

Sleep:
I haven't been sleeping as well as I normally do.I usually wake up around 2 or 3 AM and I'm awake for a god 1-2 hours. It's really annoying because I'm always so tired the next day.
What I miss:
I am starting to miss my body being my own. I think it's just because I'm getting uncomfortable at this point.

Cravings:
Fruit Loops and oreos! Not together of course, ha! I have also really been craving loaded baked potatoes from Dickey's BBQ. They are soooo good!

Other crazy symptoms:
Nothing really crazy. Heartburn. All. The. Time. It kind of sucks. But I feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, so I'm hanging in there! It has really been a challenge to do my normal Christmas running around being this pregnant. It has definitely been different this year!

Best Moment this week:
I have really been trying to take it easy and listen to my body. When I feel  tired, I try to rest. It's hard to do that with Christmas in full swing. ha! I would say the best moment this week was getting the glider in the nursery. It was the last major thing that we were waiting on and now it's complete. We have everything done in her room and that feels really good.

Thanks for stopping by!

This and That

I have been really bad about posting regularly, but I'm going to try and do better. :) We have been knee deep in "getting ready for baby" mode. We have had all of our showers, I will post on those soon! The nursery is all ready to go, minus a few small details. I feel pretty prepared with baby stuff, but some days I don't really feel emotionally prepared. I know that is probably just a part of it, but it scares me. ha!

I will tell you one thing, this little girl already has had a ton of laundry! ha!

In other news, I got a Community Service Award at work. I thought that was pretty cool. I'm not going back into the office after Christmas, I'm still going to work from home until she comes, but the little break will be nice. I feel like I will have a breather to get a few more things done.

With all of the fun baby stuff going on at our house right now, it hasn't really felt like Christmas to me. I'm kind of bummed about that, I'm really trying to get into the spirit and focus on the "now". It has helped a little that it's not 80 degrees outside anymore, it's actually been cold!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest of the week!

Bumpdate: 34 weeks!

Disclaimer: this was taken after working in the nursery and doing TONS of baby laundry. ha! I need to do a side-view pic too, I'll try to get one and add it today.

How Far Along: 34 weeks, 6 weeks to go! Kind of scary! I had a mini panic attack the other day...but all is well now. ha!

Total Weight Gain: around 29 lbs. YIKES! haha! I have my 34 week appointment Monday, so we we will see. I actually didn't gain anything at the appointment after Thanksgiving, so that was kind of nice but I might have made up for it in the past two weeks.

Size of Baby: Baby girl is the size of a butternut squash, according to babycenter.com

Sleep:
I haven't been sleeping as well as I normally do. Mainly because I don't like sleeping on my side. I wake up a lot during the night, I think mostly because I'm just not comfortable.

What I miss:
I am starting to miss my body being my own.  I think it's just because I'm getting uncomfortable at this point.
Cravings:
Fruit still sounds good. Nothing really crazy, yesterday I REALLY wanted a stuffed baked potato from Dickey's Barbecue so that's what I got. ha!

Other crazy symptoms:
Just feeling kind of achy and stiff still. Really when I am sitting too long, it hurts to get up. I feel like I'm 80! My feet usually start hurting withing 2.5 seconds of standing up, so that has been fun. ha! The other night I woke up feeling sooooo sick to my stomach. I read that "morning sickness" can come back in the 3rd trimester, so I'm praying that is not the case.

Best Moment this week:
I had another WONDERFUL baby shower last weekend. My good friend and my mom threw it for me. They really went overboard. ha! It was so amazing. This baby is already so loved and showered with everything  that a baby could possibly need or want.

Thanks for stopping by!

So Thankful!

We had a very relaxed and great Thanksgiving. We went over the my parents house and ate too much food as always. My mom made a delicious meal that left me in a Thanksgiving food coma. ha! My grandma and great-grandma made the trip in and my cousin and Aunt come over too. It was a great day to just be thankful, and I am soooo thankful for what I have. I hope you have a great holiday too!

Fruit still sounds good.I have really been wanting BLT's and baked potatoes!

Other crazy symptoms:
Just feeling kind of achy and stiff. Really when I am sitting too long, it hurts to get up. I feel like I'm 80! My feet usually start hurting withing 2.5 seconds of standing up, so that has been fun. ha! We did a lot over Thanksgiving and I could really feel it by last night. I was hurting all over!

Best Moment this week:
My two childhood best friends and their moms threw me the most amazing baby shower in Houston for all of my family down there! It was fabulous and I will remember it for the rest of my life! I couldn't ask for better friends! And also Thanksgiving was great, my grandma and great grandma came in from Houston and spent a few days with us, it's always good to spend time with them!

Bumpdate-30 weeks!

I'm actually 31 weeks today, so I'm late posting. I will catch up next week ;)

How Far Along: 30 weeks

Total Weight Gain: around 30 lbs. YIKES! haha!

Size of Baby: CUCUMBER, according to babycenter.com

Maternity Clothes:
I am still wearing some regular (mostly maternity) tops but I have switched to all maternity bottoms, they are so comfortable! Still LOVING my maternity yoga pants. I have not made any purchases, but I'm seriously considering buying one more pair of those pants. I just wear them sooooo much!

Gender: Baby Girl!

Movement:
I feel her move around all the time. The movement has become way more pronounced in the past couple of weeks. It almost tickles sometimes. I can really tell that she is getting bigger!

Sleep:
I haven't been sleeping as well as I normally do. Mainly because I don't like sleeping on my side. I wake up a lot during the night, I think mostly because I'm just not comfortable.

What I miss:
Nothing really right now. I think I am actually going to miss being pregnant sometimes. ha!
Cravings:
Fruit always sounds good. I am still eating sweets, but not having those "have to have it right now" kind of carvings for them. PB&Js are still sounding good at anytime of the day. And I have really been craving milk, which I usually only eat on cereal, but a big glass of ice cold milk sounds so good!

Other crazy symptoms:
Just feeling kind of achy and stiff. Really when I am sitting too long, it hurts to get up. I feel like I'm 80! My feet usually start hurting withing 2.5 seconds of standing up, so that has been fun. ha!

Best Moment this week:
I went to a breastfeeding class last night. I gave Hunter a pass not to attend that one, so I dragged my mom with me instead. ha! There are actually a few other husbands missing and friends/moms came in their places. It was not as good as the other classes, but still informative. The whole idea of nursing is so intimidating to me. It really kind of scares me. I'm trying to go into it with a completely open mind, and whatever happens, happens. ha!

stick a fork in me...I'm done

I had my last weekend event for the year and for the last time until after I go back to work after the baby is born. Woo Hoo! I had an all day event last Saturday and and all day event this past Saturday and it Wore. Me. Out.And on top of that, we went out to dinner for a friend's birthday on Saturday night. I was sooooo tired on Sunday. And I still had to catch up on my normal weekend stuff that I couldn't do on Saturday. Good thing it was cold and rainy, it was a perfect day to stay inside.

And today has been such a typical Monday. I am dragging and I started that day by spray hairspray in my wet hair by accident instead of my volume root boost. Oh well, Monday has just about came and gone. ha!

Anyways...enough of me griping. ha! I have a super busy week at work and then I have my second baby shower this weekend. I am so excited to see friends and family that I haven't seen in a while. It will be so much fun! I can't wait!

Love,
Jess

25 and counting

We had our 28 week appointment with the doctor yesterday and I have gained 25 lbs! Hunter got furstrated with me because I was kind of bummed about it. He just kept saying that this is what is supposed to happen. And I know that I'm supposed to gain weight, but it is so hard to see those numbers on the scale going up and there is nothing that I can do about it. Oh well, only a little bit longer. ha!

I also had to do the glucose screening test where you drink the orange stuff. I actually didn't think that it was that bad tasting. I have heard awful things about it, but I thought it kind of tasted like the orange drink at McDonalds.

Reality set in when the Doc said that we start going every two weeks for appointments now. Wow, the time has really gone by kind of fast. I'm going to try to savor every last minute. ha!

And, Happy Halloween! We all dressed up like super heros at work today, I'm "Super Mom"! haha! Have a great day and indulge in candy while you have a good excuse!

Bumpdate-28 Weeks!

28 weeks down 12 to go, give or take a few. I have really mixed emotions about that. I feel like I have had this little secret living inside of me and it's been just me and her and soon I'm going to have to share that little secret with the world. Bitter sweet. I can't wait to meet her, but I'm going to miss our bonding time that nobody else gets to share. I'm already stingy with her, ha! Sometimes when I think about having a baby actually here with us, it scares the poop out of me. But we are ready...we have the nursery done (minus a few small details), her clothes are hanging in her closet and nicely folded in the drawers. We just need a baby. :)

How Far Along: 28 weeks

Total Weight Gain: around 20 lbs. YIKES! haha!

Size of Baby: Chinese Cabbage , according to babycenter.com

Maternity Clothes:
I am still wearing some regular (mostly maternity) tops but I have switched to all maternity bottoms, they are so comfortable! My mom gave me some really cute maternity PJ's and I could literally live in them! I also bought a pair of maternity yoga pants. Oh. my. gosh. I don't know how I have ever lived without them. I guarantee that I will be wearing them even after I'm pregnant. No shame. I'm a shopper so my maternity wardrobe keeps growing, I have to keep reminding my self  that I only have a couple more months, so I have really slowed down buying things. :)

Gender: Baby Girl!

Movement:
I feel her move around all the time. It actually freaks me out if I don't feel her for a while. She is still a morning girl right now. She moves all around in the morning while I'm sitting at my desk. You can feel the thumps from the outside now, Hunter got to feel her a couple of weeks ago and he thought that was pretty cool!

Sleep:
I haven't been sleeping as well as I normally do. Mainly because I don't like sleeping on my side. I wake up a lot during the night, I think mostly because I'm just not comfortable.

What I miss:
I am REALLY missing working out. I love going to kick boxing classes and sweating so much that  I'm soaking wet! I guess I have the rest of my life to enjoy working out so for right now I'm going to enjoy being pregnant!  I have still been enjoying warm baths, but I like them so hot that steam is coming off of my skin when I get out. I can't wait to take a hot bath again! I miss my pre-pregnancy clothes/body, but I found myself thinking the other day that a couple more months and I'm done and I kind of got sad. haha!

Cravings:
Fruit always sounds good. Still craving sweets, I had a raging craving for homemade apple pie one day and I don't even eat apple pie. ha! PB&J sandwiches and chocolate milk! Mexican food!

Other crazy symptoms:
I haven't had any more leg cramps, I guess drinking OJ in the morning has worked. My lower back started bothering me a little. I took a small pillow to work to put in my chair during the day and that has helped. I have had a few Braxton Hicks contractions, my doctor said it was perfectly normal! I had a really stressful week at work last week and I can tell at night that my stomach just tightens up, it's so weird. I'm so lucky to have Hunter to help me, he can tell when I need to rest, which is so hard for me, and he MAKES me get off of my feet. Love him! Other than that, just tired. ha!

Best Moment this month:
We went to a Prepared Childbirth Class. I was actually dreading it because it was all day on a Saturday but we both really enjoyed it.  The best part was hearing all of the questions from the dads, they were pretty funny. We got to go on a tour of the Labor and Delivery wing and that actually got my heart pumping. It was weird to think that we will be in one of those rooms in a few months. We were both really glad that we took the class, it was helpful for both of us. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

What's Happening?

We are getting way cooler weather today and I am loving it! It feels like Fall is finally here and I hope to stay. I am so ready for the cold weather.

We went to the Prepared Childbirth class at the hospital that we will be delivering at over the weekend. I will be honest and tell you that I was kind of dreading it because it was an all day class on a Saturday. Hunter is actually the one that kept saying that we really needed to go and it would be one Saturday out of our lives. Bless him. He has been being the positive one around our house lately...for the most part. ha! Anyways...we went and we both thought that it was so good. It was kind of brief on each topic that was presented only because we only had one day. But we really didn't get bored and the day went by so fast. There was sooooo much information and it was all useful. It kind of made me more nervous about delivery but kind of calmed my nerves at the same time. I know that makes no sense at all, ha! At the end of the class we went on a tour of the Labor and Delivery wing of the hospital and it was nice to actually get to see where we would be. The hospital that we will be at is so nice and they practice 24 hour rooming-in. So the baby will stay in my room as much as I want her to be there, 24 hours a day if I want. They also offer food vouchers for spouses while they are staying with the moms, and apparently they have won all kinds of awards for their food there. Yay! I love food!

I am so glad that we went. The next class that we are signed up for is How to care for a Newborn, I have a feeling  that will be just as useful! ha!

Stocking the Freezer

So I'm a planner. With that being said, I have been thinking about how are lives are going to be so different once Baby is here. It kind of freaks me out that I can't plant out the details, but I CAN plan out what we will eat in those first few weeks. I have been reading about post-partum recovery and things to expect. One thing that keeps coming up is being so tired that the last thing on your mind is cooking dinner. I really don't want us to live on fast food and pizza so I have made a list of things that I can make ahead and freeze. I tried to think of things that would be really easy to just heat up and maybe add a fresh veggie or salad. Translation:things that would be eash for Hunter to prepare. ha!  Any tips on what freezes well or really anything about freezing meals would be awesome!

Here is what I have on my list for now:

1.  Meatballs

2.  Casseroles:

-Lasagna

-Chicken Spaghetti

-Baked Ziti

       3. Soups:

-Taco Soup

-Chicken Noodle

-Potato

-Tomato

-Corn Chowder

       4. Sloppy Joe

       5. Beans

       6. Meatloaf Minis

       7. Muffins

       8. Cookie Dough

       9. Breakfast Burritos

       10. Beef and Bean Burritos

       11. Salsa Chicken for Tacos

A Week without posting??

I feel like this week has almost done me in. This time of year is the busiest for me at work. I haven't been feeling well at night and I think it's just because I'm stressed and so tired by the end of the day that I literally just crash at night. And that is so hard for me because I can't stop when I get home, there is always something to do. I have to go on my walk, do laundry, do the dishes. Hunter has been great at helping me, but I just can't relax! I did go get a pedicure this week (since I can't reach my toes anymore!) and that seemed to help a little bit, I'm am trying to do that every two weeks now just to help me CHILL. ha! Needless to say, I haven't posted since last Friday and that's why!

I'm linking up with Kelly today for CROCKPOTALOOZA 2 today because I absolutely love using the crockpot! My favorite recipe is below. It's totally my go-to recipe!

Salsa Chicken

You Need:
1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts (can be thawed or frozen)
1 large jar of salsa

Place chicken breasts in crockpot and pour whole jar of salsa over chicken. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3-4 hours. When chicken is done shred with two forks. That's it! So Easy!

I love this recipe because you can use it for so many different things. We have had it on tacos, nachos and I have even added other ingredients to it to make delicious Taco Soup!

Have a great weekend, I am going to try to catch up on some sleep!

Show Us Your Life-Tailgating Recipes

I decided to link up with Kelly for Show Us Your Life today because it's my favorite kind of food! Tailgate/Football/Party food. I could eat dips and appetizer type foods for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner everyday! I have not tried either of the recipes below but I wanted to share them because I have been dying to make them both!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip

Ingredients
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 (8 oz) block cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup confectionery sugar
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Whisk the melted butter together with the brown sugar, vanilla, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.
  2. In a separate medium bowl, beat cream cheese until softened. Add the butter mixture and the confectionery sugar, beating until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  3. Cool in refrigerator. Serve with graham crackers or other lightly sweetened cookie.

Pizza Dip

Five Question Friday!

It's Friday! I have to work an event tonight for work but after that I am looking forward to a weekend of not doing much. This week has made me so tired! ha! My mom and I are planning on having a girls weekend of shopping! woo hoo! my favorite thing to do!

On to Mama M.'s 5QF!

1. What album/cd/download are you embarrassed to admit you have?
That's a really good question. I love ALL different kinds of music so I have a huge variety of music. I did buy that Sisqo' album in high school, you know "The Thong Song". I know you remember it even if you don't want to admit it! ha! You're totally singing it right now.
2. What's the one thing your spouse does better than you?
Nothing! I kid, I kid. He is way better at saving money than I am. At least one of us is, right?
3. When do you start buying Halloween Candy?
October 30th, ha!
4. Family closets - Yay or nay?
NAY, I need my own space when it comes to my clothes. Actually, I need my own space when it comes to a lot of things.
5. Which home/cleaning chore do you hate the most? Why?
I really do enjoy cleaning the house. I love the way it smells and feels when I'm done. The one chore that I cannot stand is hanging up the clean clothes after they have been washed. I have no idea why, but I just do not like to do it.

Have a great weekend! We are supposed to get some chilly weather and I can't wait!!

Worry

I have a confession. I worry. I worry about things that I have no control over. It's a really hard habit to break. Since getting pregnant I find myself worrying about a whole new bag of issues. Will my baby be healthy? Will I be a good parent? Will she be a good person? I'm sure most of this is normal but I am really trying not to worry so much, it causes unneeded stress and wrinkles.

I feel guilty for worrying so much because I know the God wants me to leave all of the worrying to him. I printed out a couple of bible verses that I have put up in my office. I look at them frequently throughout the day and it really helps. I feel more at peace.  I don't worry as much.

1 Peter 5:6-7
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Matt 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I hope that this helps some of you worriers out there too!

Bumpdate- 24 Weeks!

This picture was taken at 23 weeks

How Far Along: 24 weeks

Total Weight Gain: Get ready for this....are you ready....a whooping 18 lbs! I know, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm a little freaked out, but I know that this is what is supposed to happen

Size of Baby: She is about the size of a cantaloupe, according to TheBump.com

Maternity Clothes: I am still wearing some regular tops but I have switched to all maternity bottoms, they are so comfortable! My mom gave me some really cute maternity PJ's and I could literally live in them!

Gender: Baby Girl!

Movement: I feel her move around all the time. It actually freaks me out if I don't feel her for a while. She is a morning girl right now. She moves all around in the morning while I'm sitting at my desk. I can't really describe how it makes me feel to feel her in there, it's pretty awesome.

Sleep: I haven't been sleeping as well as I normally do. Mainly because I don't like sleeping on my side. I wake up a lot during the night, I think mostly because I'm just not comfortable.

What I miss: Deli meat! I love turkey sandwiches and I have been wanting one so bad! And hot baths. I have still been enjoying warm baths, but I like them so hot that steam is coming off of my skin when I get out. I can't wait to take a hot bath again!

Cravings: I've had a few lately. ha! Fruit always sounds good.  My sweet tooth was bad before I got pregnant, but recently it has reached an all time high. I am having to fight the cravings every. single. day. It's awful.  I could eat chocolate for breakfast, lunch and dinner! But since my recent encounter with the scale, I am really limiting myself. I try to think of alternatives when the craving can't be resisted.

Other crazy symptoms: My eczema has pretty much disappeared, which is awesome. I have been having terrible leg cramps at night. They hurt so bad! I will sit straight up in bed and there is nothing I can do until it goes away! I had one last week that made my calf sore for three days. :(    I am also still so tired, I feel like my energy has just been totally sucked out of me.

Best Moment this week: My MIL had a few friends that threw me my first baby shower. It was so sweet. It was mostly my MIL's friends, but my Grandmother and Great Grandmother made the trip in and it was so special to have them there to share the special day with me. We got some great gifts and LOTS of pink! I love it!

Happy Friday!

So Blessed

Over the weekend I had my first baby shower given to me by my mother in law's-closest-friends. It was so much fun and the pink, oh the pink. We got the cutest baby girl things! It was most of my MIL's friends that were invited, but one of my best friends came to spend the day with me. I love her! It was the sweetest little shower!

I am so honored that my Grandma and Great Grandma come in town as well. How many people can say that they still have their Grandmother and Great Grandmother around to share special times with?  On Sunday we went to brunch at one of my favorite places with my parents and grandparents, it was delicious! Then they came over to see the progress on the nursery. I feel so blessed!

And it happened...

I just didn't think that it would happen this soon. :(

I usually don't get "regular" pedicures. I will treat myself once a moth or so and just paint them myself in between. Last night I had the urge to paint my toes even though I'm going for a pedi this Friday, they were really bad, ha!

I got them painted and just as I was finishing Hunter walked in and saw that I was struggling. It was hard to reach my toes with this belly in the way. I can't quite get my foot close enough to paint them and I can't quite stretch far enough down to reach them either. I did it, but it was probably the last time that I will be able to until after the baby is here. ha!

I have the best husband in the world who insisted on treating me to a mani/pedi every two weeks! (probably mostly because I looked so pathetic, ha!) yay!

Much Love,
Jess

Show Us Your Life!

I meant to post this on Friday, but the day got away from me. How unusual! ha! Anyways, I wanted to participate in this SUYL because I really enjoy reading about the products that other people use and wanted to share some of my favorites.

First, I have to share that I have been wearing Clinique make-up since I first started wearing make-up. I have tried other brands but I always find myself going back to Clinique. This moisturizer is the best ever!

I have used it forever and love it. My mom did get me hooked on Kinerase, but it's so expensive, I only use it when she gives it to me as a gift! ha!

Now I'm totally going to be a hypocrite and back track on my previous statement. I use all Clinique make-up EXCEPT mascara. I LOVE LOVE Hypnose mascara by Lancome. It's seriously the best!

My favorite shampoo and conditioner is Bumble and Bumble Creme de Coco. It smells divine and makes my hair so soft! A little on the pricey side, but worth it.

I have tried all kinds of face wash, my skin is so weird. It's dry in some spots and oily in others. Go figure. It was hard to find something that worked. I have used Cetaphil for a couple of years and it's the best. It's gentle but still works. I love it!

Have a great Monday!!

Falling for Fall!!

Fall is in the air here....finally! We officially have about 10 days left of Summer and let's face it, anything can happen in TX, but the air is feeling just a tad bit cooler. I went to Bath and Body Works last week and stocked up on my favorite Fall scents.

I LOVE the Leaves scent and Autumn. Another favorite of mine is Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin and guess what those geniuses did over at B&BW? They started selling Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin in shower gel! Do you know how many times I have said that I would love to bathe in that scent? And now I do!! ha!

I love Fall fashion. I thought that being pregnant would change that but it really hasn't. There are some really cute maternity clothes out there. I have been trying to keep myself at bay with buying everything that I want though because I could literally buy a whole new wardrobe. The things that I have bought so far, I feel like I could wear after too. My mom got me the two tunics above. I have been waiting to wear them with my black leggings and it's finally not blistering hot! yay!

And I HAVE to have the sweater and jeans below. I think that they would be so cute with jeans!

I have had my eye on these boots for a while now. I just love them and they look so comfortable!

It's a...

With the holiday on Monday, it seems like this week has just flown by! We had a great Labor Day weekend. We had tons of stuff to do around the house but we went shopping instead. You don't hear me complaining ;)

In Tuesday we had our 20 week appointment with the doctor. For some reason I was feeling super anxious about seeing the baby and making sure everything was ok. We had a great check-up and everything looks good. And of course we found out the gender!

We had our families over Tuesday night for a gender reveal dinner. We had a great time and everyone was so excited to hear the news. ha!

I did a double layer cake and put the colored icing in the middle so that when we cut the cake everybody would see pink or blue icing. It was so fun surprising everyone!

Everyone wore pink or blue and the boys even got special outfits to wear! I love them!

And, it's a.....

Have a great weekend!

Bumpdate-20 weeks!

How Far Along: 20 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 5 lbs. at our last appt. We have an appt. on Tuesday, I'm thinking I'm closer to 10 lbs. now. ha!

Size of Baby: Our little nugget is about the size of a banana, according to TheBump.com

Maternity Clothes: I am still wearing some regular tops and I have switched to all maternity bottoms

Gender: We will find out on Tuesday!

Movement: I felt the "little bubbles" a few weeks ago and I was pretty sure that was it. I have felt them periodically since then. More when I'm sitting at my desk at work.

Sleep: I haven't been sleeping as well as I normally do. Mainly because I don't like sleeping on my side.

What I miss: Deli meat! I love turkey sandwiches and I have been wanting one so bad! And hot baths. I have still been enjoying warm baths, but I like them so hot that steam is coming off of my skin when I get out. I can't wait to take a hot bath again!

Cravings: Fruit! And black beans...weird, I know. I have a craving for Salmon last week, so I baked some and had it with rice and veggies. It. was. so. good.

Other crazy symptoms: Nothing really crazy. I have had patches of eczema flair up and that has been pretty annoying and nothing is helping! I'm still feeling pretty tires all of the time but that beats feeling sick all of the time!

Best Moment this week: We went to our first childbirth class at the hospital this week. It was all about Anethisia. It freaked me out, but it also made me feel better at the same time. Hunter really enjoyed it too.

Have a nice long weekend!

Progress

We have been making progress at our house this week. I saw "we" but I actually mean my awesome husband who has taken on most of the hard work. ;) Saturday while I had to work and went to my hair appointment, Hunter ripped out the carpet from what will be the nursery. We have hard wood in about 50% of the house and we decided that we wanted to go ahead and out hard wood in that room too. So out the carpet came. Then on Sunday we went and picked up paint and started painting while there was no floor to mess up. ha!

My baby brother came over to help Hunter with the walls...

  and a few other things...ha!

We get the floors installed next week...I can't wait to see what they will look like.

On a different note, we went to our first "Childbirth class" last night. Whoa. It was Anesthesia and I'm not sure that was the best one to start with, ha! I was totally freaked out at first, but by the end of the class I was feeling a little more assured.

I'll be back tomorrow with the 20 week update!

Five Question Friday!!

T.G.I.F.- you know what that means! 5QF! Here goes...

1. If you could have been (could be) any profession you wanted (brains and $$$ no problem) what would it be?
I think that if I could get over my fear of seeing blood, I would totally be a nurse. It seems very appealing to me and the schedule doesn't seem half bad either! 2. How often do you clean out your car?
Ummm.....not enough! I actually just got it washed today! It will probably be another month before that happens again. Every time that I leave the car wash, I say to myself that I am going to do that at least every other week...yeah right!
3. Do you wish there was such a thing as fashion police or are you deeply relieved?
Not at all. I don't really care what other people have on, to each his/her own. Our style is what makes us all different!

4. What's your go to food/drink/activity when stressed?
I am a closet junk food addict! When I'm super stressed I immediately reach for the most unhealthy food around. Or fast food, burgers, tacos, it's bad. Real bad.
5. If you had twins, what would you name them?
I can't even imagine having twins...but if I did, I don't think I would go with the rhyming route. I would just pick two names that we both love and stick with that.
Have a great weekend!

Productivity

I really love being productive, especially since I spent almost three months not doing anything because I felt so bad. Now that I'm feeling better, I'm back on  the Productivity Wagon. I feel like my head is in a million and one different places just trying to grasp everything that needs to be done before the arrival of Baby. Thankfully, my wonderful husband has been working like crazy to get what was the office cleared out to start preparing the nursery. My house is a complete disaster right now. It's absolutely crazy the things that we had crammed into the closets. ha!

We picked out furniture at Buy Buy Baby and this weekend my mother-in-law took us to order it for our Christmas present. We are so lucky to have the families that we have! And if you have not been in a Buy Buy Baby, you need to go. I love that place.

Our favorite thing about the furniture that we picked out is that the brand, Baby Appleseed, is an eco-friendly company and when you purchased furniture from them they will plant 10 trees in your baby's name. Cool huh? Here is a picture of the set that we bought. I LOVE! I can't wait to pick out bedding and get everything put together!

HAPPY MONDAY!
Much Love,

I fell victim

So I totally said that I was not going to do it. But I did. I just couldn't help myself. And now I'm addicted. I don't even know how it happened or how to explain it.

I fell victim to Honey Boo Boo Child and now she has me! Ha!

Bumpdate-16 weeks!

I can't believe that it has already been 4 months! I will preface this post by stating that the below picture was taken on the tail end of a very long, HOT day. Don't judge.

How Far Along: 16 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 2 lbs.-maybe, I have probably gained more but we don't have a scale at home and I haven't been back to the doctor yet. Our next appointment is Monday, so I guess we will see then. dum dum dum...

Size of Baby: Our little nugget is about the size of an avocado, according to TheBump.com

Maternity Clothes: I am still wearing regular tops and a few regular bottoms with the bella band. The pants in the picture above are maternity and they are soooooo comfortable!

Gender: We will find out in Sept.!

Movement: None yet

Sleep: I haven't been sleeping as well as I normally do. Mainly because I don't like sleeping on my side.

What I miss: Deli meat! I love turkey sandwiches and I have been wanting one so bad!

Cravings: Nothing really notable this week. I have been eating a lot of fruit.

Other crazy symptoms: My all day sickness has seemed to ease up, which is really nice. I have been having sciatic pain every once in a while lately. It's kind of weird.

Best Moment this week: I finally ate veggies again! Yay!

Fail

I did it again. I set my sights too high. ha! I had every intention of posting the weekly pregnancy update, but no, I have not done that. So instead I will be back tomorrow with my "monthly" update. Don't judge.

Weekend Whirlwind

I have to start this post by posting a pic of this sweet boy that we babysat last week for my parents. He is so good, but for some reason whenever he comes to stay with us, Dewey thinks it's ok for him to be bad. I think he just gets excited and doesn't know what to do with all of his energy. ha!

On Friday night, Hunter had a friend in town and he stayed the night with us. We went out to eat at a trendy little place near our house and walked around after. Before we knew it, it was already 11:00 p.m., which for me is laaate! By the time we got home and settled, it was almost 1:00 am before I was asleep.  I was soooo tired on Saturday. It would have been nice if I didn't have anything to do and could have lounged around all day, but nope. We had a fun-filled night ahead of us!

Saturday night we went to see Aerosmith! There were about 18 of us and my Dad got us a suite and a limo. We were fancy for the night. ha! We had so much fun!

Yesterday, I did lay around all day to try to catch up on some sleep, but I feel even more tired today. I should have called in to work tired. ha!

Have a great Monday!
Much love,
Jess

Five Question Friday!

I'm so glad this it's Friday. Lately I have been mentally cheering myself to Wednesday because that's 1/2 way through the week. But Friday...sweet release!
On to the questions...

1} What do you call them- flip flops, sandals, thongs, or slippers?

Flip-flops...and sometimes just Flops, because I'm lazy like that.

2} Are you a "my kids can do no wrong" kind of mom or a "Johnny punched you? Well what did you do to him first?!" kind of mom?

I don't have kids around yet, I would like to think that I would be the latter and ask what they did to make Johnny punch them.
And for the record...all kids can do wrong. ha!

3} Would you confront a good friend that looked/looks down on your husband/significant other?

Probably not. I pick my battles and I try to veer away from drama if I can. If that friend were constantly saying things in front of me or to me, then the boxing gloves would probably come out.

4} Biggest pet peeve?

Crazy drivers. I know that is relative, what is crazy to me might be normal to you. But crazy drivers scare me.

5} What's your favorite take out meal?

It changes depending on my mood. I love ordering pizza and siting on the couch watching a movie in our comfy clothes. Bliss :)

Have a great weekend!
Jess

12 Weeks

So  I decided to do the weekly update post, mostly for me to be able to look back on because I'm sure a lot of this stuff will be forgotten. I am two weeks behind, this is the 12 week post, but I'm actually 14 weeks. I will catch up soon.

I have no picture that I like this week, so you get a lime :)
(photo from Google images)

How Far Along: 12 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 2 lbs.

Size of Baby: Our little nugget is about the size of a lime

Maternity Clothes: My mom took me shopping for some staple things since my clothes are getting a tiny bit too tight. I have been wearing my regular clothes still with the bella band, but I have a feeling that won't last very long.

Gender: We will find out in Sept.!

Movement: None yet

Sleep: I haven't been sleeping as well as I normally do. I have been having crazy dreams lately that have been waking me up.

What I miss: Feeling normal

Cravings: This week, I was craving Chick-Fil-A. I felt like I would choke someone for some waffle fries!

Other crazy symptoms: Nothing really crazy. I have been feeling pretty sick since about week 6. Morning sickness that lasts all day. Not. Fun. I just try to be thankful that there is a little miracle inside me and not whine too much. It's really hard though ;)

Best Moment this week: Hearing the Nugget's heartbeat and feeling good enough to make it to the gym once!

Two Little Feet

I  have been keeping a secret. It's been hard not to spill the beans. In January, our family will be growing by two little feet.

(photo from Google)

We are so excited and a little scared! ha! It's crazy how this little baby has already changed our lives so much. We started going through our things to make room and things that we never thought that we would get rid of don't even get a second thought. It's so weird.

That's one of the reasons that I have been so bad about blogging lately. I have wanted to shout from the rooftops! So just in case I slipped, I just stayed away from all social media. ha!
Yep, we are going to be parents and Dewey is going to be a big brother. No turning back now, here we go!
