my little disaster...

We got some pretty bad storms here on Tuesday night as did many of you who are in the mid-west. I was stuck at work during all of the chaos and Hunter was at home holding down the fort. I don't usually get too scared during storms, but this one was a doozey. First I got this picture from my parents...

That was out of their front window...scary stuff. I called to make sure that they were all ok and didn't have any damage. And....my baby boy was over there so I had to make sure he was ok. They were all fine, my mom was in the bathtub with the dogs. ha!

About 5 minutes later I got this picture from Hunter....

That's our backyard. That's not cool. Luckily that was the only damage that we had. I know that it could have been a lot worse and there are some people who are missing family members, so I feel pretty blessed that our fence was the only thing that was damaged. Hunter is awesome, he had the whole thing repaired by the time that I got home from work yesterday. I love you Hunter, you rock!

I just wanted to share my little piece of the big disaster...

Trivial

I was going to blog today about how things that are going on in my life are really stressing me out. I was going to whine and complain, but when I woke up and turned on the news I saw this...

My problems see so trivial now. At least I have a roof over my head and a bed to sleep in, food on the table and clothes on my back. At least I HAVE a home to go to after work today.

I just want to take a minute to pray for all of those affected by this disaster and I hope you will too.

Five Question Friday!

Man, I am so glad to see Friday. Somewhere around Wednesday I really thought that I might not make it to see Friday, but thankfully Friday and I meet again. I haven't been very good about blogging lately and that's because we have something big going out right now...I'll tell ya more next week. Right now, I'm on to 5QF brought to you by the lovely Mama M.

1. Do you and your spouse go to bed at the same time?
Nope. I am usually in bed by 9:30, sometimes earlier. Don't judge, I need my 8 hours! ha!

2. A question for the ladies...What kind of facial hair do you like on your man?
I really prefer none.

3. What's the worst vacation you've ever taken?
Most of the vacations that i can remember have been great. If you made me pick one that was less than the others I would probably say it was when I was a freshman in high school. I was taking a friend on our family vacation and the day before we left I found out that she kissed my love interest. I was soooo mad, but her dad was already on his was to drop her off at my house. So we faked being friends for the weekend. It was uncomfortable. ha!

4. What's the first-ever blog you followed?
Kelly's Korner!

5. Do you enjoy amusement parks?
I really love roller coasters but I haven't been to an amusement park in years. I'm sure it would be just as fun as it used to be!

Have a fabulous weekend!

It was bound to happen

Remember this?
That was back when my bike and I were friends. After this weekend we are no longer that close. ha! Hunter and I decided to go out on a ride on Sunday morning. We went to a trail that I had been on once before. It was definitely hard for me, but I made it through unharmed. It is really close to our house, so we decided to go back to that one. I did a lot better this time and I was really getting the hang of it, when a huge rock appeared out of nowhere-and of course I hit it. I lost control and flew over my handlebars into the trees. ouch! ha! Sometime mid-air, I caught a handlebar in the neck.
For some reason every time I have a big crash or fall like that (and yes it happens often) I get right up to make sure that I'm not bleeding or hurt. Hunter turned around and saw what happened and came back to where I was. We made sure that I wasn't too hurt and I got back on the saddle and finished the ride. I was really ok, other than some bruises, until Monday morning when I could hardly get out of bed because I was so sore! ha!

Needless to say...I realized that I should probably stay on the weenie trails for a while.

Much Love,
Jess

Derby 2011!

I'm back...I hate missing a week of blogging! ha! We went to Kentucky last weekend and just got back on Monday night, so I have been playing catch up all week.

Hunter's family is from Kentucky and they have been going to the Kentucky Derby for 40+ years. I think his Dad has only missed two! A few years ago they started taking us when they had extra tickets. We haven't been in a couple of years and around December Hunter's dad asked if we wanted to go. We would never pass up a chance to go to Derby! ha!

This year was special because it was the first year ever that Hunter's whole family was there together! We had a blast!

Our seats were right by the red carpet entrance where all of the celebrities come in. You would think that I would have been totally consumed with celebrity watching, but I wasn't. At one point I literally almost ran into a football player but I have no idea who he was. ha!

Me and Hunter's brother...

Hunter's brother brought his best friend. I loved her, she was so sweet!

The whole family at Derby for the first time...awwww

This was the crowd right before the Derby race...crazy

Much Love,

before I post about my weekend...

I have to share the pictures from our Royal Watching Party at work! I got up at 4:30 AM on Friday to watch the wedding. I watched it right up until I had to leave for work. We decided that we would all get there early to watch together. I have to admit that it was hard for me to pull myself away from that sexy Prince Harry...yowzas!

We decorated the room for the occasion! One of the girls even brought her china! (please excuse my iPhone pictures)

I made scones and coffee cake! (I need a little more practice on making my scones into triangles. ha!)

They are the cutest couple ever!

We even dressed for the occasion! We had a blast!

And when it was all over...I felt a little situational depression coming on. You know like when you get all excited for Christmas and then it's over. It was kind of like that but I was all excited that I could maybe one day be a princess and then it was over. There's always Prince Harry...

Much Love,
Jess
