Five Question Friday!

T.G.I.F! I'm so thankful that Friday is finally here. It's been a long week. I'm looking forward to the weekend, well everything except that I have to get new tires on my! Anyways on the Mama M's. 5QF!

1. Did you have a favorite blanket or toy as a kid? If so, do you still have it?
I don't really think that I had anything that I was totally attached to, my mom might have something different to say about that! ha!

2. Do you dream in color?
Yes! Most of the time I have very vivid dreams-in color- that I remember. Doesn't that mean something when you remember your dreams?

3. How tall are you? Do you wish you were shorter or taller?
I'm 5'3", I might a an inch or two if I could, but 5'3" isn't too bad.

4. If you could have anyone's (celeb or other) voice as the guide on your GPS, who would it be?
OMG, I would totally have Nicole Kidman with her Australian accent. I heart her!

5. Do you return your shopping cart to the corral or leave it wherever in the parking lot?
I always return the cart to it's home in the corral. I hate when people leave carts resting on other people's cars. That is so rude!

Have a great weekend!

Boot Camp Baby!

I convinced a friend from work to do a 4 week boot camp with me! Yesterday was our first day, I thought she might kill me today when I got to work, but I'm still alive! It actually wasn't too bad for the first day.

We'll see if I still feel the same way next week!

So last night I was channel surfing and I stopped on a show on A&E called Obsessed. It's all about people with really bad OCD. One of the ladies on the show last night had an obsession with germs. She couldn't stand for her house to be dirty and cleaned like twelve times a day, bless her! She was so afraid of going into public restrooms that it made her panic. I felt really bad for her but the therapist did some things and really helped her. The next person on the show was a younger guy, he was probably in his late twenties. He was obsessed with turning things off. Whoa, wait a minute, that sounds like me. Although his OCD was to the very extreme, the way that I related to some of the things he was doing really worries me. Ha! He had to "check" everything before he went to bed to make sure that it was all turned off. I do that. I only do it once, sometimes twice. He did it like thirty times! So I am not that bad. Denial, I know. I have been known to drive home to make sure that I turned the iron off or closed the garage door, but I don't loose sleep over it. Not yet anyways. I had heard before that "checking" things was a form of OCD but I don't think that it gets in the way of my life to where I can't function. I have let you in on a little secret of mine, apparently I have a form of OCD, but who doesn't right?

Weekend Rewind

We had a great weekend! I had an event at work on Saturday morning, Dog Days of Summer, and it was HOT! We had a good turn out, I wish we would have had more people come but I'm sure they were staying inside! Saturday afternoon we went out to the site of the new house we are building. I have really said much about it on my blog just for the sheer fact that we have to sell our house in time in order for everything to work out in our favor, that's all I will say about that. ;) After we checked out things at the new house, we went over to a friend's house for a good 'ol summer BBQ! They happen to live right down the street from where we are planning to move, it will be so great once we actually get there, again hoping that everything works in our favor. One of the people that they invited to the BBQ brought with them a pig. Now I will tell you that I am a Texan through and through I love meat just as much as the next girl, but I have to be honest and say after this I will never look at pork the same.

I have never seen a whole roasted pig in my life!

I made this great and very easy 7 layer dip to take:
You can get the recipe here!

The rest of the weekend we just hung out. I had a terrible migraine strike late Saturday night, so I spent Sunday recovering. :( I did help Hunter do some yard work and while we were outside, Dewey was a bad, bad boy. He gets really anxious when we leave him inside alone and he can hear us outside. We usually have to lock him up in his crate to prevent him from destroying anything to get back at us. Well, I forgot to lock him up and this was the result...
We just replaced this trim from a previous Dewey incident and he went and scratched it up again. I don't know what we are going to do with him! I should have known something was up because this is where I found him...

in his bed, he knew he was in trouble!

Five Question Friday!

It's Friday again. That can only mean two things, 1) I am a very happy girl and 2) It's time for Mama M.'s 5QF!

1. What were your school colors?
My school colors were Green & Gold. I never thought they were very flattering, but what school colors are, right?

2. What's the best compliment you ever received?
The best compliment that I have ever received was from a friend who told me that I was the sweetest person that she knew. I really try to be nice to everyone, and to hear that was very special.

3. Do you buy cheap or expensive toilet paper?
I try not to splurge too much, but when it comes to toilet paper, you just can't put a $ amount on that. ha!

4. Have you ever had a surprise party thrown for you? Or have you had one for someone else?
I have never had one thrown for me, but I have been to a few. It was fun to try and keep it a secret from the person that we were throwing it for!

5. What is one material possession that you "can't live without"?
Oh my gosh, do I really have to pick just one? I love all of my material possessions, as much as I would love to be the kind of girl that could live off the land, I am just not! I think that it would be a toss us between my big Coach bag or my Nike Shox. I love Shox, that is the only tennis shoe that has graced my foot for years. I don't know what i would do without my shox!

Well now you know five more facts about me! Have a great weekend!

And We Wonder Why...

We wonder why America is so overweight when we can sit our happy selfs down at any restaurant and order things like this...

Cheesecake Pancakes! Like pancakes weren't bad enough by themselves, they add cream cheese to them. Or what about this baby? The sandwich with fried pieces of chicken as the bread? Holy cow!

And then you have McDonald's who normally has the reputation for having the most unhealthy foods, but now you can get yogurt at the drive through.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on anyone at all. I love cheesecake pancakes just as much as the next girl. I actually ate 5 chocolate chip cookies after lunch today, shame on me, I know. But I just wish that it wasn't all so readily available! ha!

After 3 weeks of house sitting/dog sitting for Hunter's parents we are finally back home! It was so good to be back in MY bed and be able to put all of our stuff back where it belongs. I spent all day yesterday doing mounds of laundry and catching up on housework. As much as I hate housework, it was actually nice to do it at my house again. Have a great Monday!!

Five Question Friday!!

It's Friday....thank you sweet lord! This week was kind of long but Friday is here now and it's time for Mama M.'s 5QF!

1. Do you collect anything?
Not really. I'm actually kind of opposite and throw away everything. I hate clutter.

2. Name 3 celebrities that you find good looking.
In no particular order...
Leonardo DiCaprio
Ben Affleck
Paul Walker...yummy!

3. Do you have any scars? If so, what's the story behind it (them?)?
Tons! I'm such a clutz. My best scar is from knee surgery. I torn all three major ligaments in my knee jumping on a trampoline. My scar is about 5 inches long, it's crazy! And just for grins and giggles I will throw in that about a year later I crashed my brother's dirt bike in our driveway and scarred up my other knee!

4. What is a food that you like to eat, but others might think it's gross or weird?
Ummmm....I usually eat ranch on EVERYTHING! I'm talking everything!

5. Have you ever seen a tornado in real life?
Yes, yes I have. It was scary. The end.

Have a great weekend!

Potato Salad and dog sitting

For the last few functions that I have been to I have made this potato salad. Yummy!

I get so many compliments that I thought I would share the recipe with you! Don't you feel sooo lucky? ha! It's a really simple recipe that I got from the May 2010 Southern Living. They call it "Picnic Potato Salad". Here it is for your enjoyment:

You need:
4 lbs. Yukon Gold potatoes
3 hard cooked eggs, peeled and grated
1 cup mayonnaise (yes, it MUST be the real stuff!)
1/2 cup diced celery
1/2 cup sour cream
1/3 cup finely chopped sweet onion
1/4 cup sweet pickle relish
1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

I have a slightly different way of cooking the potatoes than Southern Living.
I peel all the potatoes and chop them into bite size pieces. Then I cook the potatoes in boiling water for about 15-20 minutes or until tender. Then drain and cool the potatoes for 20 minutes.
Once the potatoes are warm to the touch and not hot, combine the potatoes and eggs.
Stir together the mayonnaise and next 7 ingredients; gently stir into potato mixture. I cover and let it chill overnight. Voila! Now that's good eatin'!

Sidenote: We are down to a few days left of our dog sitting days. T minus 4 days. I do love the dogs, but three weeks has been a LONG time! ha!

4th of July

Every year my parents throw a 4th of July party. It is becoming quite the tradition. Hunter and I went to their house early to help set up/cook/ and run last minute errands. Everything looked awesome, we had decorations put out, tables set up, and the fire pit all ready to go. And this this rolled in....

Not exactly what you want to see when you have people coming over for a backyard BBQ right? So we all ran around picking up all of the things that we put out so they wouldn't get wet. After we got back inside and dried off, Mom got out the carton wine. Yes, I said carton. It's really good!

It was smooth sailing after that. The sky cleared and we had a great time! I just want to send a big shout out to my mom and dad who put on the BBQ every year, it's a lot of work! Mom got these cookies at a bakery down the street, they were super cute and soooo good!

I made red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese favorite!

We had a lot of these...ha!

And LOTS of yummy food!

The manly men around the grill!

My mom got this cute little cupcake for one of her good friends who was celebrating her birthday!

We put a big sparkler in it for the candle! so cute!

When it got dark out side, we lit up the fire pit and got out the stuff to make smores! The kids had a blast making them for anyone who wanted one!

We had a great time with family and good friends!
We will be back at it next year!

I cannot believe that it is already July! Holy cow! It's the first Friday of July and it's time for Mama M.'s 5QF!!

1. What is one thing you miss the most about childhood?
I really really miss my naps! I was NOT that kid who refused to take naps, I loved nap time. I took naps after school every day all the way through high school. Pathetic, I know. What can I say? This girl loves to sleep!
2. Are you still friends with your friends from high school?
A few. The ones that really mattered to me. Now that we have facebook we can all still keep up with each other, but only 2 or 3 that I still consider my friends.

3. Is there a catch phrase, cliche, or word that just drives you bonkers every time you hear it?
I can't thing of any catch phrases right now, but I will tell you that I absolutely CANNOT stand the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! It really gives me the creeps!

4. What is one thing that you think symbolizes America...besides "Old Glory"?
Baseball. It's an all American pastime. Every time I see an old picture of baseball, or an old movie with baseball in it I think that it's really American. I love the Sandlot and A League of Their Own.
5. What are your 4th of July weekend plans?
Hanging out with good friends and family!!
Have a safe and Happy Fourth of July!

What a great day

Yesterday was a fabulous day. I the day off from work, spent time with my mom, and went to see ECLIPSE!!!

My mom and I started a tradition to go see the Twilight movies on opening day during the first showing. I don't think that I would enjoy going to the midnight showings, so we stick with 10AM on opening day and it works out great. I am a true Twi-hard. I love the books so much that I have actually lost count as to how many times that I have read then and I still can't get enough. I am trying to convince my mom that if she would read the books, the movies would be that much better. I thought that Eclipse might be the best one yet. I really like how you get to see more of the Cullen Family story and they stay very close the to book. After the movie we ate lunch at Mi Cocina. Then we ran a few errands. I went back to my Mom's House after we were done and got to spend some time with my little baby. I was so glad to see him. I tried to bring him over to Hunter's parents the other night to stay with us and the other dogs, but he was not havin it. ha! I can't wait to get back home and in our regular routine. I forgot my camera with all of the pictures so you will have to wait to see them tomorrow.
