Favorite Things Thursday!

One my my most favoritest (is that a word) things in the whole world is the rain. I absolutely love the rain, I love the smell, I love the sound, something about it just soothes my soul. I love sitting inside on a rainy day watching movies or reading. I even love big thunderstorms! My dad and I used to watch them roll in, we loved to watch the lighting. I thought that talking about the rain today would be fitting since we are expecting a lot of it around these parts tomorrow. I would love to take a trip to the Rainforest one day, but I am so terrifed of wildlife that I just might not make it back. Maybe I will keep that one on the bucket list for a few more years :)

grow-ups

I am posting a little late. The day just got away from me. I can't believe that it is already 3! Anyways, we have had to make some really grown-up decisions around our house lately. You see, we bought our house when we first got married and we have been in it for a little over three years now. Our original plan was to stay in it for five years but we are getting a little anxious to move closer to our friends and family. We moved out to "the prairie" as I like to call it. It is soooooo far from civilization. Not really, I am way exaggerating. Although when you are out there it feels as if you are in the middle of nowhere, we are a good fifteen minutes from the nearest Walgreens. That is a long way when you need to just "grab" something, ya know? I have to say sometimes it is kind of nice to be away from everything, but most of the time it is just inconvenient. We are still young and we are very busy people, we NEED to be closer to things. So we found a neighborhood that we really like and it is literally right in the middle of EVERYTHING! We went to see it last weekend and I felt like a little old lady. As we were driving around scoping out the place and the shopping right there, I felt my self get a little nervous. I was acting like I grew up in the country or something!! Ha! All of the busy stores/restuarants/traffic was making me feel dizzy. But after the initial shock, it was refreshing. Sounds crazy I know. This is a huge decision and a little scary if I might add. So please sccept my apologies for neglecting the blog world lately, I'm trying to be a grown-up!

All That Jazz

Every year in April in this great state that we live in:

there is a festival called the Arts and Jazz Festival. We look forward to this particular weekend all year long. It is a huge event with over 200,000 people going through in the three days that it is here. It is like no other festival around. There are tons of booths with art and jewelry! Right up my alley! There are several different stages set up around the festival with different jazz bands playing all day and into the night. We like one particular stage that is kind of off to the side of the big crowds. We always go early and set up "camp". You can bring your own food and drinks, so it is a great inexpensive way to spend a day! We meet up with our friends Walt and Amber early at our "spot" so their little boy can run around and play before he poops out.

Hunter got into the beer early!

As the day goes on, more and more friends converge to our spot. It was so good to see everyone!

Tons of good eats!

And great friends!

People even bring their furry friends!

Prepare yourself because the next picture just might send you overboard. Now if you know me well, you know that I'm not quite ready for babies yet. But man alive, when I saw this little guy my uterus skipped a beat:

Isn't he the sweetest thing that you have ever laid your eyes on? He was so good too! He never even cried! I love sweet innocent little babies!
We stayed at the festival for about 10 hours, needless to say we were completely wiped out when we got home, but we had a blast!

5QF and Pictures as Promised!

It's that time again! Mama M.'s Five Question Friday! I love sharing 5 new interesting facts about myself with you every Friday. Grab your coffee and hold on, here we go!

1. What was the first car you owned?
Hmmmm...I have never really "owned" a car! haha! The first car that my beautiful and wonderful parents supplied me with was a Toyota 4 Runner. I loved that car ALMOST as much as the Camero they got me for my 17th birthday! I know....spoiled rotten.

2. What song are you embarrassed to know the lyrics to?
Not really embarrassed, but surprised that I still know every word to the Barney theme song!

3. Have you ever had stitches?
Yep, sure have. It was not pleasant either. I torn my ACL, ICL, and MCL when I was a Senior in high school. I wasn't even doing anything exciting, just jumping on a trampoline and landed the wrong way on my knee. That's all it took. Game Over. The stitches of course were after the surgery. Boo!

4. What was your first job?
My very first job was at a bagel shop with my best friend. We had a blast!

5. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?
I remember that I always like The Grouch for some reason. Maybe because I could relate to him! ha!
Here are a few pictures from the baby shower that my mom and I hosted last weekend. Mommy-to-be doesn't know if it is a boy of girl so we opted to do green and yellow. Here are the tables:
My mom showed me how to make these cute little diapers out of the napkin for favors. You literally just fold the napkin up like a diaper and glue a little diaper pin to it. So easy! we filled them with mints and peanuts.

Here is Mommy-to-be with her mom and grandma! Don't they all look fabulous?

Have a great weekend~ see ya Monday!

Favorite Things Thursday!

Here it is, Thursday already! For today's Favorite Things I thought that I would share with you how much I absolutely adore Texas Wildflowers! I really feel like our great state has the BEST wildflowers. Something about them makes me just feel all warm and gooey inside when I'm driving down the road and there they are! My mom took these awesome pictures of some flowers she saw. Way to go mom!

aint no thang but a chicken wang!

So on Sunday I decided to challenge my cooking skills. I made this beautiful baby:

To my surprise, it was way too easy! So easy that I thought that I must have missed a step! Here is what you need:

3-4 lb. whole chicken

1 teaspoon fresh thyme

1 teaspoon fresh rosemary

1 teaspoon fresh sage

2 tablespoons melted butter

Stuffing ( I used lemon, garlic, and onion. But feel free to mix it up, I think next time I will try apple and orange)

Rinse your chicken and pat 'er dry. Slice/dice/chop your "stuffing" and stick 'em right in. I know, I felt bad too :) In a small bowl, mix butter, and all of your herbs, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Rub your chicken down with the mixture. Roast at 400 degrees for about an hour. When you pull that chicken out of the oven, let it sit for a good 10-15 minutes to let all of the juices really soak in. Your done! Easy as pie! Yummy, pie....maybe I will make that next week.

Abandoned Blog!

It's Monday. Boo! I don't care for Mondays. But I guess I can't stop them from coming, right? Ha!
I had an incredibly busy weekend, and I fear that I will stay busy for a while. I am an Event Planner for a very large community and the Spring/Summer is full of activities and events. This past weekend we hosted a Shredding Party. We invited all of our residents to come out and shred their sensitive documents. We hired a professional shredding company and they brought a huge truck that they just parked in front of our building. It was pretty neat to watch! They loaded up trash cans full of paper and put it on this lift on the side of the truck, then the lift dumped the paper into the top of the truck where the huge shredder just ate everything to pieces. It was way cool!
Immediately after my little event I rushed to my mom's house where she was helping me host a baby shower for a good friend of mine. I barely made it there in time to get myself dressed and help her do the last minute things. I was at her house until almost 10 PM on Friday night doing the things that we could get done early. Good thing because I don't think that we would have been able to do it all on Saturday. My Mom saved me by helping, I couldn't have done it without her, Thanks a million Mom! I will have pics from the shower posted tomorrow.
Sunday was pretty much a lazy day for me. We were going to do yard work and plant some flowers but it rained all day. That was probably good because I really needed to rest! We went and saw "How to Train Your Dragon" yesterday afternoon, it was super cute! I recommend it to all ages! Ha!

Have a great Monday!

Favorite Things Thursday!

I just can't even get a grip on how time is just flying right by lately! It is making me a little sick to be honest :) Anyways, it is Thursday and I wanted to share with you my absolute FAVORITE shampoo and conditioner.
Shampoo cleans the hair, conditioner makes the hair silky and smooth.

Sorry, quick flashback to the Billy Madison days. Ha!
On with the Show! So my favorite shampoo and conditioner is Bumble & Bumble Creme de Coco. This stuff is liquid gold! There is something about it, I can't quite put my finger on it. Wait, yes I can. Not only does it make my hair so soft and shiny, it smells like pina coladas!

Shake Your Groove Thing!

Why is it that I never get to my Monday post until Tuesday? I seem to be running a day behind lately. I have a feeling that those "behind" days are collecting somewhere and one day soon they are going to explode on me. Ha! Anyways, I had a great weekend to say the least. We went down to Houston for one of my closest friends weddings. I actually never thought that he would get married, but he did! I was so proud :) It was a great night full of fun, even Hunter had a great time!
I got to see my very best friend, Katie, and spend time with her and her husband.
I got to see friends that I don't get to see enough.

And Katie and I spent half of the night getting on groove on!

And here it is, already Tuesday and I'm still recovering!

Five Question Friday!

I know I say it just about every week, but man that went by fast! It's already time for Mama M.'s 5QF!

1. Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
That's totally easy...Jennifer Aniston. I have always loved her. One of my favorite movies is The Object of My Affection. She is just so darn cute.

2. Did you ever go to summer camp?
Me...camp? Ha! I have never really been one to enjoy being one with nature. Don't get me wrong, I love nature and I respect it, but you will not find me doing any camping of any sort.

3. What sends you running and screaming in the other direction?
Ummmm...if I have to pick one thing, you are going to think that I am so weird, but the sound of someone clipping their toenails makes me want to poke my own eyes out! Ew!

4. What is something you do that drives your spouse nuts?
Haha! He says that I nag, but I beg to differ. I "remind"!

5. What is currently your favorite song?
Do I have to pick just one? There is this alternative song that makes me roll down the windows and sing as loud as I can every time it comes on. It is called Savior by Rise Against.

See ya next week!

Favorite Things Thursday!

I would like to admit something to you my blogger friends. I am (clearing my throat) a Fast Food junkie. Whew...it feel good to get that off my chest. I will actually go a little further and say that I am a Junk Food junkie, actually just a plain food junkie. That's right, this girl loves to eat. I was never that girl who ordered a salad on the first date and just picked at it, no sir, I am going to get fed. I love food. And that brings me to my favorite thing for this Thursday: Chick Fil A! Get me a number one with a Dr. Pepper and I am a very happy camper! End of story :)

Baby, Baby, Baby!

Yes I said baby three times. Don't worry it's not me! Ha! So this guy that my dad works with, who is not much older than me, found out that he and his wife were expecting! Good news, right? Absolutely, then they found out that they were expecting triplets...all girls! Whoa, that really happens? That is terrifying to someone like me who is toying with the idea of starting a family in the next few years! Anyways, my dad really wanted to do something for them. They have had to spend a small fortune already on furniture and the basic essentials. So my mom and I, being the sweet girls that we are, :) volunteered to throw a baby shower for them and invite all of the people at work. It was so much fun. We did hot pink and lime green, one of my personal favorite color duos. We did everything ourselves, except the food. Since there were so many people invited we catered it.

We really had a great time doing this for them, and they were so thankful for everything they got! And get this, my mom and I are hosting another baby shower next week for a friend of mine who is expecting. This time we don't know if it's a boy or a girl, so I'm thinking yellow and green?

Five Question Friday!

Gee willikers...is it already Friday? My prediction on Tuesday was right, that week just flew right by! So it's Friday and you know that Friday posts are dedicated to Mama M.'s 5QF!

1. Do you sing out loud in the car when you're driving?
Oh my gosh yes! I pretend that I am on a big stage in front of a million people and that I am actually good. I totally rock out! And anyone who says they don't is lying!
2. What would you never be caught doing?

Well, let me think, I would never be caught doing question #3!
3. Will you go #2 in a public restroom?
No way! Never have and hopefully never will! I like my privacy :)

4. Have you ever broken a bone?
Are you kidding? As clumsy as I am, I'm surprised that I have only broken a few. The most memorable was when I was in 1st grade. I thought it was a great idea to climb across the top of the monkey bars instead of hang from them, can I add that I was in a dress! Right when I got the the middle of the bars I lost my balance a fell straight down, I hit the ground hard. I fractured my arm up almost to my shoulder. They couldn't put a cast on it because of where the break was so I got away with just having to wear a sling. Good times!
5. Do you prefer cooking or baking?

I love both, but if I had to choose it would be, wow that's a tough one. Ummmmmm.....Baking!

somethin' smells gooooood

This is what I have been up to for the past two days:

I am making The Pioneer Woman's homemade cinnamon rolls for Easter. Don't let anyone catch you licking the screen, they might have you committed.

Another quick note: We still have our house guest
Well he would like to be our house guest, but he can't seem to find a way in!
