Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekend was pretty busy for me.

My best friend is getting married on Friday and I am the Matron of Honor so I spent this weekend getting last minute things done. Of course I had to get my dress altered because those kinds of dresses NEVER fit right. Why is that? I ordered the dress size according to my measurements, which was my normal size, and when I got the dress it was almost a whole size too big. I just don't get it. It's the little things in the world that just baffle me. So anyways, I picked up my dress and it fits great now!

Ate lunch with the family on Saturday.

Saw Avatar in 3D with The Hubby on Saturday night, which I should add that I loved it. It wasn't really on my top five must see, but the hubby convinced me that it would be great and it was! You must catch it while it is still in the theater!

I spent Sunday doing all of those around-the-house things that I hate spending my weekend on but needed to get done! Watched the Saints/Vikings game and love that the Saints are going to the Superbowl.

That's about to you again soon!

Crazy Week & Favorite Things Thursday!

This week has been so crazy! I have been running around having meetings for work and this and that...and on top of everything I am dog sitting for my parents. Whew...

So I decided to do a Favorite Things post. One of very favorite things is Kinerase skincare.

This is the stuff that Courtney Cox promotes, and she looks fabulous! My mom started using it about a year ago and every time that I was at her house I would sneak some of the moisturizer. It makes my skin as smooth as a baby's bottom! So for Christmas this year my wonderful, beautiful mom filled my stocking with Kinerase. Be still my heart. I am so in love. Yes, it is on the pricey side but oh so worth it.

Wedding Stuff...

So I am the Matron of Honor in my best friend's wedding at the end of this month, which is only like two weeks away...a little panic...I'm ok now. The wedding is on a Friday and the week of the wedding there are a few things going on. 1. A Fiesta that the groom's parents are throwing 2. The rehearsal and rehearsal dinner and 3. well, three is the actually wedding day. All of these upcoming events has given me the excuse to partake in my most favorite activity...SHOPPING! So I wanted to show you a few things that I have picked out. I have not purchased any of these yet, but I am really diggin the last one.

I also really want a pair of Nude heels, but I can't seem to find a pair that I like anywhere! Well I'm off, wish me luck!

Five Question Friday! it Friday already? The week just flew right by! It's time for Mama M.'s 5QF!

1. Worst trouble you ever got into as a teenager?
Well considering that I was grounded half of my teenage life, I will just have to pick the best story for you. I guess one of the worst times was when I skipped school on 'senior skip day' which would have been cool, if I was a senior, but I wasn't. ha! I was a sophomore in high school. And me being the genius that I am went to a Seniors house who was having a party-did I mention that he lived on the next street over? When my mom saw my car there in the middle of the day, wow, I was in trouble. Mom if you are reading know the rest!! Ha!

2. Are you a morning person or a night person?
I would be more of a night person. I just can't find it in me to get it together in the morning. It is almost like I am mad that I have to get out of bed...lazy, I know! I do have to wake up before 6 AM for work everyday and let me tell you that it rips out my soul everyday! But when I get home at night, I can't sit down!

3. Are you a one-handed or a two-handed Texter?
Definitely two handed. I used to be really good at it, but I have lost my touch!

4. Democrat, Republican, or Independent..or maybe even Green Party (whatever that is).
I used to say that I walked the line. But the older I get, the more and more I find my views to be conservative. Go figure!

5. Are you a pet person?
Well that depends on the pet. I love dogs but I don't care for cats. I am actually really allergic to cats. I have always had a dog for as long as I can remember, so definitely a dog person!

the root of the problem

Let me preface this post by saying that in general I think that I am a pretty tough cookie. I can handle pain, I actually have a pretty high tolerance for pain. I blew out my knee when I was in high school and never shed a tear. When my now husband an I were dating we were working out at the gym and I hit my head on one of the machines, HARD, and wasn't even dazed. But make me go to the dentist, and I turn in to the biggest weenie ever. There is just something about messing with my teeth that makes me want to throw up.
I have had this toothache on and off for a while now. I finally went to the dentist Friday when I woke up in serious pain and my cheek was swollen. I'm thinking that they will give my antibiotics and send me on my way. Oh no, it can never be that easy. The dentist told me that I needed a root canal, I almost cried. What a way to start off the new year, right? I was literally holding back the tears sitting in the dentist office. I'm such a baby. So long story short, I had to "put my big girl panties on" and do what I needed to do. I had my first root canal yesterday and I survived! It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was actually no worse than getting a filling. My husband was so proud of me, he actually thought that I was going to cancel the appointment, silly him! I'm actually in more pain today from being sore than I was during!

It's that time again. Now that the holidays are done an gone I am back on schedule! It's time for 5 Question Friday!

1. What's your "comfort food"?
I am so guilty of eating my emotions :) So to narrow it down to one thing is a tuffy. If you are going to MAKE me choose I guess I would have to go with meatloaf and mashed potatoes. This is the all time comfort for me. Throw in a side of mac 'n cheese and I am at peace with the world.

2. Do you send Thank You's (handwritten or email)?
I most definitely send Thank You's for everything-always, always handwritten. I guess it's the southern girl in me. My mother-in-law actually told me not too long ago to stop send so many thank you's. I told her to deal with it, I like to show my appreciation :)

3. If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which show would you choose?
Oh wow, there are so many good ones. My favorite show is Grey's Anatomy, but I don't think I would want to be there for a month. They work long hours and not to mention I get squeamish at the sight of blood.
I think that maybe I would like to spend a month with the Desperate Housewives. That would be a crazy month!

4. What is your favorite online recipe site?
Hands down, no competition, The Pioneer Woman! I must agree with Mama M. that P-Dub cracks me up and her recipes are oh so delicious!

5. If you had to choose: "Friends" or "Seinfeld"?
No questions about it, Friends! I don't think that there is an episode out there that I have not seen!

Show Us Your Life- Resolutions

This week's Show Us Your Life is all about resolutions. I made a short post about this earlier this week and I am ready to share it again. Let's face it, the more you say it the more real it becomes! So this year I want to focus on being a better person all around. I know that people don't change over night-it's a process. So I am starting by trying to be a lot less irritable. I have come to realize that so many things irritate me and just put me in a bad mood. This is not good for me or anyone around me. I definitely need to have more patience and I am working on it, I swear. I know that this might take a whole year to tackle but I'm willing to give it a shot. In the end I will be a better person for it and the people n my life will thank me :)

What the...?

This is the forecast for this week. I know you readers who are in the Frozen Tundra, as MkMama like to call it, are probably laughing your little fannies off, but just know that tomorrow I will be freezing my little fanny off! I was raised in the southern part of Texas and these temperatures are not acceptable! So when I woke up this morning and saw this forecast all that came out of my mouth was, "what the..."! Ha!

A New Year

I normally don't make New Year's Resolutions. Last year I made a resolution to lose weight and get healthy, and I did, and it felt great! It always feels good to have a goal that you actually meet. So this year my resolution is to slow down, I am always rushing around trying to get things done and I miss the little things in the process. I am also going to try to not be so irritable. That is a major problem for me and I find myself loosing patience with everybody, so I am going to work on that. We will meet back right here on January 4, 2011 at 11:45 AM to evaluate how I did! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
