Favorite Things Thursday!

UPDATE: I just read MckMama's blog and baby Stellan needs your prayers. To read about his story click on the Stellan button on my sidebar.

In honor of the upcoming holiday this weekend, I thought that I would make this post my favorite holiday...HALLOWEEN! I love everything Halloween, the tricking and treating, dressing up, the scary movies that come out, Eating chili dogs. Don't ask...my mom made chili dogs every Halloween for as long as I can remember and now I have carried the tradition on in my house! Since we don't have any kids yet, we are going over to a friend's house and going trick-or-treating with them and thier kids! I can't wait! What's your favorite holiday?

Have a safe and SPOOKY Halloween!

How 'bout them Cowboys?

Ok so I have never been a huge football fan. I like it, but I am not totally in LOVE with it. We got to go to the Cowboys game over the weekend, and I was excited to see the NEW stadium. All I could get out of my helpless mouth was...WOW! I just can't put into words how enormously huge it is...and it happened to be a good game too, the boys actually won.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness most of the football players (from both teams) were wearing pink gloves and shoes. It was really cool to see. They also had a fabulous "pink" half time show. At the end of the show the had breast cancers survivors come out onto the field and they formed a pink ribbon on the field. It was so AWESOME!

Up, Up, and Away!

Last week I had the rare occasion of having the day off from work. It was completely unplanned so the normal list-making me had nothing on the agenda. So I spent the day with the Hubby running little errands that needed to be caught up on. On our way home we noticed that there were some very low flying jet planes. We live just a few miles from a large cargo/military airport. The Hubby realized what they were and said "those are the Blue Angels!". He turned the car into a empty parking lot to watch. We watched them for a while and then decided to head home, we were amazed that when we got back home the planes were flying right over our house! So we watched some more...ha! We realized that they were practicing for the air show that was happening over the weekend. I have never been to an air show so I was so excited that we caught it and were able to make planes to see it! We called a friend who has a little boy that we knew would totally enjoy it and they went with us. Here are some pics of what we saw....

I wanted to take this pink helicopter home!! This was the cutest little plane flying all around!

I am so glad the we got to go. It was a great time and I will definitely go again next year! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Five Question Friday!

Yeppers, it's that time again! Five Question Friday... You get to learn more things about ME! You should feel honored! HA!

1. Whats your favorite horror movie?
There are a ton out there that I love. I am a huge fan of anything scary. But I guess if I have to pick just one then I am going to go with the original Nightmare on Elm Street. It was the first horror movie that I ever saw and I loved it!

2. Bath tub or Hot tub?
No question, bath tub, hands down...with really really hot water! For some reason hot tubs really gross me out. I have it in my head that the hot water with different people in it will make bacteria grow or something! HA! I know I'm crazy...but Ew!

3. Do you prefer to view a movie at the theater or at home?
That depends on the occasion. I like to watch movies at home mostly. I can cuddle up on the couch in my sweats. I tend to get uncomfortable in movie seats and start to fidget.

4. If you could chose a maid, cook or chauffeur, which one would you choose?
Definitely a maid. I love to cook and I really don't mind driving. But cleaning...forget about it! I would love to have a 24 hour at my service maid!

5. Electric Slide, Boot Scootin' Boogie, or the Macarena?
I am going to say the Electric Slide....it's just so GROOVY!

My Grandma found this wreath at Michael's! It is by far my favorite Fall decoration! Thanks Grandma!

I found these place mats at Wal-Mart! I love them! Aren't they cute?

So there are a few pictures of my decorations! I am going to enjoy it while it lasts because before I know it Christmas will be here!

5K Success!

This weekend was a good one. My first big event for work we VERY well! Let me tell you...I did not know how much went on behind the scene to put on a 5K race. I definitely know now! It was a lot of work but worth it. I want to shout out to all of my volunteers that got up before the crack of dawn to help me, especially the husband who I dragged out of bed at 4 AM! Here are a few pics from the event....
This was the FUN RUN starting line for the kids.
There was another big 5K race in the area on Saturday. If I didn't have my own to host I would have been at it. It was a big race for the Susan G. Komen foundation. There were 30,000 people there! I want to congratulate my mom for completing her first 5K race and for a wonderful cause! Here's to many more Mom!
You can probably guess that I spent the rest of the weekend on my couch! ha! I hope everyone has a spectacular week!

Five Question Friday!!

I can't believe that Five Question Friday is already here! Woo Wee that week went by fast! Here goes....

1. What phrase, or phrases, do you say a lot (holy cow, geez, seriously?)
I have to say that I say Chillax at least five times a day. I love the combination of Chill and Relax together, it takes the words to whole new heights for me.

2. Swimming: Are you a kamikaze off the boat, take the plunge from the deep end, or a gradual, slow submersion from the shore or shallow end kind of person?
That depends on what I'm jumping into. Definitely take the plunge if it's water that I can see the bottom, and it looks safe :)

3. Have any tattoos? If not, what would you get?
I did get a small tattoo when I turned 18. It was the whole "I'm an adult and can do whatever I want now" phase.

4. What is your favorite tree?
I would have to say that my favorite tree is a Japanese Maple. I love the deep purple color!

5. Two pronged question: What is your favorite non-physical thing about your spouse? What is your favorite physical thing about your spouse or significant other?
Favorite non-physical thing about my husband is his adventurous spirit. He is always wanting to try new things and go on little adventures.
Favorite physical thing: definitely his eyes!

Well there you go, now you know five more things about me!

Favorite Things Thursday

WOW this week has gone by so fast. I have been crazy busy at work with my big event coming up this weekend, dog sitting, and on top of that I have a cold. Boo! But no fear, I have not forgotten about my blogger friends out there. So I leave you with this...my favorite snack/dinner (for this week anyways!)

Totally Easy Homemade Pizza Rolls!

I saw my mom do something similar to this about a year ago. Last week I was running out of time and needed something fast for dinner. After searching through my refrigerator I found this.
I jar of Ragu Pizza Sauce
shredded mozzarella cheese
pepperonis
two cans of crescent rolls

And this is what I got:

Looks yummy right? I know!

So you start by mixing the jar of pizza sauce, about a cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, and diced pepperonis in a large bowl. Like this....

Then roll out the first can of crescent rolls flat into a rectangle. Cut in half long ways and then cut into strips.

Then take two of your strips and make an X. Use a medium size spoon and spoon an little of the pizza sauce mixture onto the middle of your X. Then fold up into a little square, it will look like this...

Pop 'em in the oven and follow the baking instructions on the can of the crescent rolls. These will be a favorite for all of those working Moms out there. They are fast, easy, and very tummy-filling! Your kids will love them too!

Mouthwatering...

These Guys....

Yep, that's right. I'm dog sitting again. Big Dublin came to stay with Little Dewey this week. I was a little nervous about it since Dewey was so BAD last time Dublin came over but I'm proud to report that Dewey has been great this time. Maybe he is getting used to having to share his toys and blankets. It is definitely different having two dogs around. They are so crazy together sometimes, they get WILD! But I guess it makes for good stories! I have a huge event for work this weekend so this is going to be a super short post but I will be back to check in later! Have a great week!

Five Question Friday!

I found this blog that I really love and she does five question friday. I thought that this would be a great way for you readers out there to find out a little more about me and if you feel like sharing, you can answer the questions in the comments...grab your coats, here we go!

1. What is the one thing that you reach for the most in a day (excluding phones and computers)? My sanity...haha just kidding...probably my calendar

2. What is the farthest you have been from home? Mexico

3. What kind of cell phone do you have? Love it or hate it?
Blackberry....it's ok for now, it gets the job done

4. Coke or Pepsi? Dr. Pepper

5. If you could go back and change anything about your wedding day, what would it be and why? I would have a fall wedding instead of a spring wedding. I love all of the fall colors and scents!

Now your turn!

Show Us Your Life- Go Mean Green!

This week's Show Us Your Life post is favorite sports teams. Although I am not a huge sports fan, I did have the best time tailgating in college. So I will post pictures of my Alma Mater, the University of North Texas. While I was a student there, the football team was not really up to par (I don't know if they ever won a game). That being said, it made it hard to get excited about the actual football games, but the tailgating, oh my...it was great. A close guy friend, my now husband, drove a pick-up truck. He and his friend got this great idea to turn the toolbox on the back of his truck into a cooler. They put a drainage system on it and everything. So every home game they would empty the toolbox out and fill it with ice and beer and go tailgating. It was the most genius thing I had ever seen. Thus began our romance....haha! Just Kidding. So they brought the beer and I always mae sure there was enough food/snacks for everyone! Good times! Go Mean Green!

Like I said, I have never been a huge sports fan but there is something about football that I love. Maybe it's the tailgating, maybe its the crisp cool air, maybe its the good food and friends. I love the socializing part of sports. Getting together to watch the big game, that is always appealing to me! I had never been a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, so when I moved North from my hometown in highschool I didn't understand what the big deal was . Living here gave me a different perspective. Cowboys fans do not take it lightly, it's almost infectious. So since this is a post about football I feel obligated to send a shout out to the boys....Go Cowboys!

Here comes the rain again...

I saw the sun for about 10 minutes this morning! It peeked out to say hello, and then it was gone again. We are expecting some pretty heavy rains today and I'm not looking forward to it. Why is it that it always rains on the days that I have to be out in it? Do I sound like I am complaining a little? I am....and that is how life goes. I am normally a pretty positive girl. My glass is always half full. But today I am feeling like complaining a little. And I will, because I can. That saying always sticks with me, "when it rains, it pours." Isn't that the truth? I have so much to be thankful for in my life right now. But I know too many people who are in the middle of their own personal storms, and man is it pouring. So when I think that my life is not all that it could be I take a few minutes and pray for those that I know who are staying afloat in their flood and I try to remember that it could be worse.

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

So I learn to dance....

Pinktober!!

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month! Breast cancer has taken so many lives of so many beautiful people. Just about every person I know has known somebody with the disease or has had it themselves. I always do what I can to support breast cancer research, but especially in October. Yesterday I bought a hot pink broom at Wal-Mart! Every penny counts...please remember those courageous people who have lost their battles and also those who have overcome it! My mom is doing a 5K in a couple of weeks with a big group of her friends. All proceeds go to benefit the Susan G. Komen foundation. I am so proud of her for doing that. Hopefully I will have pictures to post right here after the race!

Mirror Mirror on the wall...

In honor of my normal Favorite Things Thursday post I wanted to show you this mirror that I just adore!

Isn't is great? my husband's cousin bought this fabulous house two years ago and the people who sold it to her did not want to mess with trying to move this wall-sized mirror without breaking it, so they just left it! The cousin who bought the house doesn't really care for the mirror but doesn't know what to do with it. I promise that one day when I have a wall that will fit this mirror, it's mine! It's hard to see but the frame is a golden color and has a bamboo shape all the way around. It's just gorgeous. I love it. It's mine.
